Jackie Putnam has always loved singing, it has been a passion of hers since she was 12 years old.
In her early 20’s, she began as a soloist, performing on live television shows, such as Breakfast Television, Christmas Daddies, and The Downeaster Jamboree, etc. She then entered into talent competitions and won a few awards. She was involved with the Songwriters Association of Canada for years writing music. Jackie became involved with the Nova Scotia Country Music Association and helped promote local talent. She then had her own bands, “Jackie Putnam & Nighthawk” for six years; “Jackie Putnam & Sierra” for six years; then she assisted her ex-husband with his professional bluegrass music career for five years of travelling Canada, USA and the Caribbean, selling their cds, working the doors, etc. The Summer of 2018, Jackie returned to her music career as a soloist. She bought a sound system, new guitar, drum machine, harmonizer and began her bookings & hiring musicians as she needs them.
How did Jackie get into music? When she was 5 years old, she was singing along to Patsy Cline and she remembers how much she loved Patsy Cline’s singing, and she still does. When Jackie was 12 years old, she had watched the Loretta Lynn movie, “Coal Miner’s Daughter”. She was so inspired back then, that she had told herself that she was going to be, just like her. Jackie grew up surrounded by talent, at kitchen parties, at her grandmother’s house in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. She taught herself how to play guitar and she began writing music at the age of 14. She then began performing in talent shows, her high school prom, then stepped onto the stage to sing and perform at the age of 20.
The stage is home to Jackie; it is where she has always felt the most comfortable in being herself, sharing her musical talent. Jackie’s music style ranges from 50’s, 60’s & 70’s, 80’s Old Country, 90’s Country and Rock, providing live music of all genres for you all.
