Like any other gardener or gardening enthusiast, I am interested in how the planting of beds have changed over the years, including plants used, planting techniques, challenges and success. In my seventeen years in the Garden, I witnessed the planting technique change to a ladder when planting the beds to avoid compaction of the soil. These and many other details could be unearthed if time was given to researching this topic. In addition. the horticulturist who introduced the use of the ladder is retiring this year, and it would be important to gather that information soon.
