Mari Jean Monahan was born in Flekkefjord , Norway with a Canadian father and a Norwegian mother. She is fluent in both Norwegian and English and is a dual citizen of Canada and Norway. She moved to Canada to attend High School, and will be starting university this fall at St. Mary’s University. She is 18 years old . From an early age Mari loved music, and was always singing. At age 14 she won a regional talent competition, and did very well at the national event, narrowly losing to much older competitors. As regional champion she toured Junior and High schools in Norway to perform. This exposure led to her being asked to perform at numerous private functions, such as school graduations and church confirmation ceremonies. Since moving to Halifax Mari has been a regular at local open mic venues, until the Covid crises ended such activity. Mari has wide musical interests, and sings everything from folk to country, blues to classic rock, and everything in between. She truly enjoys performing, and loves to interact with her audiences.
